You must be 16th or 17th Edition electrically qualified with a good working knowledge of diesel generator sets and be up for a challenge.  Your background may be in the Royal Engineers, or another branch of the forces, or from an existing diesel generator company and be wanting to spread your wings.

A challenge?

Comprehensive training in a new field?

A boss that treats you well with an interest in mentoring your career?

A change to get involved with some cutting-edge technology and diagnostics?

Good base salary with rewarding quality bonuses and changes for overseas travel?

The opportunity to get away from boiler suits and grease and into a company car?

The company install large to massive diesel powered back up power systems into critical installations where power loss could cause huge financial losses, critical data losses, be potentially life threatening or cause infrastructure issues.  One recent project included eleven V16 diesels on one commercial site alone.

Your role initially will include: -

Installations – working closely with the engine manufacturers, heavy lifting teams and the end client to site the equipment, cable and commission, usually gaining sign off with a full building live load test.

Periodic maintenance – most of the basic filter and lubricant changes are completed by a sub-contractor, leaving you free to optimise the setup of the units.

Breakdown repairs – usually the remote telemetry on the units will inform you of faults before they become critical, however, you will need to use your fault finding and repair skills, sometimes involving major strip downs and rebuilds.

The next step for you will include further training, higher client exposures, surveying, quoting and team management.
