London, Middlesex, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Surrey, Kent, Oxfordshire
To be suitable for this role you must have experience of servicing water softeners, de min plant, UV disinfection equipment, reverse osmosis water filtration, chlorine dioxide dosing systems or have an extensive background in water treatment including remedial plumbing works, TMV repairs, tank installations, dead leg removal, tank cleans, chlorination, cooling tower work.
The company is a specialist, installing, servicing, repairing and advising on water conditioning equipment for a wide variety of applications including production water, bore hole water or simply for hard water areas, with many blue chip accounts including leisure centres, hotels, restaurants, manufacturing, power production, food, pharmaceutical, brewing, MOD, universities, care homes, hospitals and many more. Equipment can range from a fairly simple water softener up to a complex high water flow pure water system for a lab and just about everything in between.
Your role is as a field service engineer but encompasses so much more, you will spend more time with the customers than just about anyone else on the team so yes you will be doing routine maintenance, fault finding, breakdown repairs etc. however you are also the company ambassador, the clients technical support and on a day to day basis try to offer the clients real benefit and assistance which tends to grow rapport over time.
Day to day will include:
- Routine planned maintenance on a wide variety of equipment ranging from a visual inspection, replacing cartridge filters, UV lamps, checking the system is working to specification.
- Breakdown repair including fault finding which can become quite complex.
- Overhaul which may include a complete strip down of the equipment and rebuild to manufactures specification.
- Replacement of obsolete or equipment that is past its prime.
- Upgrades on the kit as they become available.
- Reliability reporting, breakdowns are rare and repeated fails are very rare, you will need to complete a root cause analysis of the problem and if possible, a sensible redesign or solution.
If you have experience of water conditioning equipment i.e., water softeners, reverse osmosis, pure water generators, chlorine dioxide dosing systems etc that would be very useful however if your background is in water treatment, water hygiene, tank cleans, tank replacement, sampling, temperature testing, chlorination, TMV replacement, cooling tower sampling and chemical analysis then they will cross train you on the equipment.
You must have a full driving licence and field based experience. The role will include occasional nights staying away from home ( fully expensed ) and a fair amount of driving each week. occasionally there will be an opportunity to work overseas for short durations.
